6 Great Things To Do in Lincolnshire in December
- Christmas in Boston is going to be great fun this year. There are going to be late night Craft and Gift Fairs taking place on the 6th, 13th and 20th December where there will be lots of live entertainment and stalls. The car parks belonging to Boston Borough Council are going to be free between 4.30 pm and 8.30 pm. The Christmas lights will be switched on Thursday November 29th. The ones in the Market Place will be switched on at 6.30 when the Christmas tree near the Herbert Ingram Memorial will be the main focus, then the ones in Pescod Square will be switched on a bit later . Lights will continue on all the way through to the Memorial Gardens where the entrance archway will carry a display. During the switch on there will be a big Illuminated Parade organised by the arts organisation Transported. There will be live entertainment and a Christmas Market which will extend from the Market Place to Wide Bargate. - TheDoddington Hall Christmas should not to be missed. Doddington Hall is an Elizabethan Mansion just outside Lincoln. It’s a great place to visit all the year round but at Christmas time they pull out all the stops. The Hall is always decorated on a theme, last year it was Alice in Wonderland and this year it is “O Christmas Tree”. The Hall will be filled with themed Christmas Trees and decorations inspired by each room. As well as looking round the Hall you can buy a Christmas Tree grown on the estate and then buy decorations for it from the Bauble Barn. As well as these Christmassy bits there are the shops and café that are always open. The café sells lovely local food, as does the beautiful food hall . - Visiting the baby seals at Donna Nook on the Lincolnshire Coast in December is chilly but an experience not to be missed. Every year at this time grey seals come to Donna Nook to give birth to their pups near the sand dunes and it possible to get up quite close to them albeit with a fence between you and them. There are hundreds of seals with their babies and if you are lucky you may see one of the most well- known ones called Rope-neck. She has been disfigured by a length of discarded rope in which she had become entangled. - A new Christmas experience is set to take place in Lincoln this December. Called the Christmas Emporium it is going to be set within the medieval walls of Lincoln Castle and is a Victorian inspired light show. It will be complemented by Christmas stalls offering unique arts, crafts, gifts and locally sourced food and drink. You can also access the Medieval Wall Walk at twilight which gives you a spectacular view over Lincoln. The light show will be repeated throughout the evening.
